NAIDOC 2017

The importance, resilience and richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages was the focus of national celebrations marking NAIDOC Week 2017. The 2017 theme 'Our Languages Matter' emphasized and celebrated the unique and essential role that Indigenous languages play in cultural identity, linking people to their land and water and in the transmission of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, spirituality and rites, through story and song. At Christ the King we understand the importance of Bardi language to our students. Many of our culture classes and NAIDOC activities this year reflect our commitment to keeping language alive.
